Pencil
Use Pencil to place the currently selected tile(s) onto the map.
Best for:
- Hand-placing tiles
- Stamping multi-tile selections
- Works with both regular and autotile layers
Erase behavior:
- Right-click erases
- Holding
Ewhile left-clicking also erases (best for touchpads)
Flip behavior:
Htoggles horizontal flipVtoggles vertical flip- Flip controls are intended for regular tile drawing, not autotile layers
Fill
Use Fill to apply the currently selected tile(s) across a dragged area.
Best for:
- Blocking out large regions quickly
- Filling regular layers with a repeated tile
- Filling autotile layers so the surrounding rules can resolve automatically or with randomizations rules.
Erase behavior:
- Right-click fill erase
E+ left-click fill erase
Selection
Use Selection to capture an area from the map itself.
Best for:
- Moving an existing block of map tiles
- Copying a block of regular tiles back into the brush
- Reorganizing an area without rebuilding it from the tileset panel
Important behavior:
Ctrl/Cmd+Ccopies the current selection as a drawable brush only on non-autotile layers- Autotiles are automatically recomputed
- Pressing
Escapeclears the current selection
Attributes
Use Attributes to view or edit custom tile data on a single selected tile.
Best for:
- Setting gameplay flags
- Marking interactables, hazards, spawn points, or zones
- Attaching simple string, number, or boolean data to tiles
Important behavior:
- Attribute editing is single-tile oriented
